Discovering the world, one bite at a time!

The Final Instalment

Today is the last day on holidays. It’s been nearly 3 weeks and it’s been a hoot. I truly believe Portland is one of those best kept secrets on the world map.  If this was the Academy Awards, Portland would win but Vancouver would receive ‘critical acclaim and a worthy nominee’ buzz.

The next issue, how do I fill in 3 hours with luggage?  The master plan was to pay for a daily 6 hour pass to the Airport Lounge and get fed and watered there. However this is run by a third party and not the airline itself. Airline doesn’t start check-in for 3 hours, hence this blog. Was reading about air hostesses and how they have ‘hotbeds’ dotted around the city when they fly in, maybe I could see in I could wrangle one of those?

Don’t fret, I’ve got a book to finish (I’ve caught the reading bug) so I will see what happened at the end of “The Slaughterhouse Five” (considered a classic). Other than that there’s music to be sung and danced to as well as podcasts to listen to whilst stroking chin.

On the food front here are some pictures:

A big thanks to everybody I ran into along the way, made me laugh and had trouble with my accent. Your hospitality was truly appreciated. For those back home who kept me in the loop with medical updates, football scores and general feedback we will catch up sometime after 6.30am on Monday morning.

The Vancouver airport hasn’t got the cult following as PDX, but the pattern is hypnotic.   If you stare at that picture long enough you might be able to see the tops of a couple pairs of shoes?

This blog started life as a series of emails with poor quality photography to family and friends whilst overseas to let them know I was still breathing.  It has since grown into it’s own little part of the internet.  A place where I ramble on about my love of travel and food.  Hopefully you find some enjoyment and inspiration out of it for future travel plans.  I have got a buzz from seeing it evolve into this flurry of pixels.

If you like what you see, subscribe below and updates will be sent straight to your inbox the next time I am travelling and/or eating.  The only spam you may get is of the food variety, but then again I don’t care for that tinned stuff anyway.
